Join Gabriella Buckingham for a one day, in-person workshop exploring still life painting with acrylics in the coastal village of Weybourne on the North Norfolk coast.
Saturday 27th June 10am - 5pm
You’ll explore different techniques and approaches to still life using acrylic paint, paper and wood panels. Before we break for lunch, we'll be drawing and painting from life and imagination, working at different scales and experimenting on paper. Gabriella will demonstrate approaches for you to try. In the afternoon you'll work on a couple of still lifes in more detail using the techniques you’ve most enjoyed earlier in the day.
All materials will be provided; it would be helpful, however, if you could each bring a couple of jam jars for water and any favourite tools you have for acrylic painting. Paints, charcoal, surfaces, gels, masking tape, cloths, scrapers, palette knives, assorted brushes from Gabriella’s studio, trays with baking parchment for ‘stay wet’ palettes, and easels will be provided. There will be a couple of gelli plates for people to try: if you have one yourself, please bring it.
If you can, please bring a hairdryer!!
Wear your painting clothes, overalls, or an apron with good coverage. You may want to bring a shower-proof coat if you’re going to venture on the 5-minute walk to the beach at lunchtime.
Biscuits, cake, tea and coffee will be provided. There are plenty of plates, cups and cutlery in the hall. Please bring your own lunch to eat inside or take to the beach for a while. There is also a good pub about a minute or two away.
This workshop is ideal for brave beginners and practiced artists who want to try something new.
