Join Sarah Burt for a one day, in-person painting workshop on the North Norfolk coast.
Saturday 13th June 10am - 5pm
Hosted in the beautiful village of Weybourne on the stunning North Norfolk coast, a chance to escape to a diverse and truly unique landscape, where rolling waves break upon a shingle beach bounded by golden cliffs that taper toward the gently swaying reed beds, converging with green fields and wildflower margins, all beneath Norfolk’s incredible skies. This is an excellent opportunity to gather inspiration and learn with the guidance of a Norfolk artist in her favourite wild landscapes.
Focusses of the workshop
Observing and gathering inspiration within the landscape
Sketching in the field
Painting from nature using your own sketches and photographs gathered on the day
Capturing light, energy and mood through colour-mixing and mark-making
We will be painting in oils using brushes and palette knives. Sarah will be demonstrating and answering your questions throughout the day with everyone having opportunity for individual attention on developing their sketches and paintings and the techniques we are using.
We will be looking at choosing a subject and how to find a good composition, mixing colours from a limited palette, painting with impressionistic strokes, creating movement, capturing atmosphere and encouraging freedom and individuality while garnering a sense of place through your sketches and paintings.
We will be spending time both outside and inside as the venue is a very short walk from the beach, where you will be offered friendly and focussed support and guidance, with the day being suitable for both beginners and practiced artists who wish to develop their confidence, skills and individual style.
All materials will be provided, including paint, surface, easels, painting tools and brushes. If you have favourite paints and brushes or palette knives of your own that you would like to work with please feel free to bring those with you.
